1.7 Release notes
Sunday, June 24th, 2007 by Steven S. -- Product DesignGrupthink 1.7 is here! In our last release we introduced the concept of "rating" answers and comments. We’ve taken that idea a step further and have greatly enhanced that way ratings are measured and used. Now, all topics, answers, and comments can be rated, and they might even get hidden if enough people think they are of poor quality. This is another step in our quest of:
- Highlighting good content
- Hiding unwanted content
- Rewarding people for posting good content
Here are some of the notable changes in Grupthink 1.7
- Grupie "Cred"
- Everyone now has a variable influence when rating content (this does not affect voting, however)
- Cred is determined by you level of participation and your reputation on Grupthink.
- Topic quality ratings
- Improved answer quality ratings
- Improved comment quality ratings
- Hiding of low-rated answers
- Hiding of low-rated comments
- Merit badges for answers and comments (highly-rated content may get a cool icon)
- Much-improved Search
- "R-rated and X-rated" is used instead of "adult" to describe this type of content
- Coming soon: set your filter to restrict "X" and/or "R"-rated content.
- Instantly-reveal hidden content
- "Open-invite" Grups setting. Let anyone join your grup instantly.
- Private profile pages (for friends’ viewing only)
- Various UI improvements
- Fixed many bugs too numerous to mention
- Optimizations and other subtle enhancements.
So, now that we finally have the ability to hide things like irelevant answers and spam, get on Grupthink and help us clean it up!
