Grupthink 1.6 Release Notes
Wednesday, December 20th, 2006 by Steven S. -- Product DesignEver wanted to mark an answer or comment as “lame”? Or, maybe someone posted an answer that was so informative and well-crafted that a simple vote wasn’t enough to express your gratitude. With Grupthink 1.6, you’ll finally be able to add these kinds of ratings from the answer lists, instantly! In 1.6, grupies who gain reputations (ie, most “funny” or “well-spoken”) will be listed at the top grupies page. You can also see how your posts are rated, in general, at your personal profile page.
Ratings open up some cool possibilities for future releases, too. For example, you’ll be able filter answers and comments based on these ratings, and exceptional answers will get some extra attention.
We’ve done quite a lot since the last release, and here are some notable improvements being released in Grupthink 1.6:
- Full answer descriptions can be viewed instantly from the main topic page by clicking “show more”
- “Reply” option added to comments. Using “Reply” will start an indented thread below the original comment
- Comment editing. For 60 seconds after posting a comment, an “edit” link will be available to the author.
- Additional feedback/rating options for answers and comments: In addition to “Not relevant” and “adult”, answers and topics can be labeled as funny, enlightening, offensive, etc..
- Answers can now be rated as not relevant, funny, etc, right from the topic page.
- “What other grupies think of you” - A summary of how your answers have been rated by other grupies. This can be found in your personal profile page at http://www.grupthink.com/mystuff/
- “Surprise me!” now draws from your recommended topics, so you only see new ones.
- “Surprise me!” link can now be bookmarked for easy browsing of recommended topics.
- One-time viewing of answers marked “adult” is now possible without changing your filter.
- “Previous topic” link added, to compliment the “Next Topic” option
- Answer-edit link available from the topic page (if you authored the answer)
- Swear words can now be optionally censored. By default. the censor will be active.
- Funniest grupies, Most Enlightening Grupies, This is based on answer and comment ratings.
- Additional filtering options on the Active Topics page.
- Grups: Topic list is now paginated when many topics have been created
- Grups: Topics inside a Grup can be searched by title (if there are over 10)
- Grups: “Hidden” option for Grups. A hidden grup to which you belong will not display on your public profile page. Also, non-grup members will not be able to visit the grup’s main page.
- Grups: Grups can now be searched by grup name at http://www.grupthink.com/grups
