Grupthink 1.5 Pre-release Notes
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 by Steven S. -- Product DesignJohn and I get to spend next week in San Francisco for the Web 2.0 Conference, and GrÅ«pthink 1.5 will help us make better first impressions with people in the biz’. We’ll be launching tomorrow around noon, Eastern (morning, for us western folk). Here are some highlights of 1.5:
- New front page does a better job of explaining Grūpthink and has more content
- New navigation area with a splash of color, and better-organized.
- New Digest notifications option. Choose to receive notifications in one of the following ways:
- As events happen (as in version 1.4 and previous)
- Grouped in a daily digest email
- Grouped in a weekly digest email
- Grup Improvements
- Create Public Grup topics! Let guests see your discussion and participate on a level of your choosing.
- Detailed privacy options let you enable/disable guest viewing, voting, commenting, and new answers.
- “Share this page” works for public grup topics
- Grup admins can delete any answers within topics of their grup
- Privacy settings for guests displayed on all public grup topics (private grup topics are not viewable by guests)
- “People most like you” list improved
- New “People most unlike you” list
- Similarity score between you and each grupie is now displayed on every profile page.
- New similarity score icons/symbols
- New “singleness” option: “In a relationship”
- “Fast movers/Hot topics list improved
- Better layout of profile/my page areas.
- Better subject lines on notification emails
- RSS feeds work better
- Time-slider feature (filter votes by time) works better and stays on-tab.
- Grupie “interest” clouds on each profile page.
- Recommended Topics! See a list of topics that match your interests and haven’t been voted on by you.
- Grupie quilt shows more activity
- New “Topics I answered” list on your profile page.
- Various performance enhancements
- Bug fixes and minor enhancements too numerous to mention!
