This release of Grupthink is defined by improvements to existing features, like Grūps and “People like me”. Frankly, these features had some pretty serious shortfalls in previous versions that made them almost impractical. In fact, the “People like me” algorithm was so flawed that it really didn’t work at all. Grupthink 1.4 adds a vital layer of polish and functionality for existing features, plus a couple brand-new things.

Release Notes:

• “People like me” really works! Find out which grupies are most similar to you, based on their votes and answers.
• View vote results by date range (using the Google Date Slider). (This feature will become more interesting as we collect more data over time)
• Comment thread notifications: Now, you can be notified when someone comments on a thread you’ve participated in.
• New comments on answer pages will now “bump” topics on the browse list.(lots of interesting conversations are happening on the answer pages)
• Many important Grūp improvements, including:
  • Custom privacy options (allow non-members to view and/or participate in your Grup topic)
  • “Ask to join this Grūp” feature for visitors
  • Get notified by email when people add new topics, answers, and comments to one of your Grūp topics.
  • Grup admins can remove/modify any topic or answer inside their Grūp.
• UI/layout improvements
• Speed/optimization improvements to various pages.
• New option to search all topics by answer
• Improvements to “similar answers found”
• Marking a topic or answer as Adult/Irrelevant can be toggled on and off now
• “Notify me…” options on topic/answer pages can be toggled on and off now
• Add custom messages to your invitations. (to topic pages or Grūps)
• Vote for an answer right from the answer page
• Ballot no longer reloads when you click and drag answers.
• You will no longer be notified when adding a new answer to your own topics
• Amazon ads on answer pages (if the answer matches any products)
• Many, many bug fixes and improvements too numerous to mention.

If you are a returning Grupie, you may need to click “refresh” once or twice on the new site, to get new styles and scripting.
