Grupthink Engineering Dept: the Fruits of our Labor

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006 by Jamsterson - Grupthink Team

Over the past 6 months of Grupthink development, the Grupthink programming and operations teams have collaborated on a mural on a spare whiteboard. We thought you might be amused:

Some notable details include:

  • The flying saucer is not a hat! (!= Hat)
  • Seattle’s Space Needle has been transplanted to Missoula, MT.
  • The Death Star keeps a watchful eye over Grupthink HQ.

We’re sure there are other esoteric and meaningful aspects to this work that we could explore in more detail. What do you think?

    A little more history:

There is no window on the north side of the office, where this whiteboard happened to be facing. So, the mural started by drawing a picture of what we would be looking at had that board actually been a window. And then it was opened up to the opensource community (the rest of the office). Often times when we needed to just take a break from some problem we were working on, we would contribute to the mural. You will notice many of our interests (like Star Wars) sprinkled through out, as well as some aspects that draw a direct correlation to things that have happened around the office.

All in all, we are proud of our little creation…. both grupthink, and the mural!

Hey! I can see my house from here!

Hiss @Jamsterson. The picture is blurry, so all the text bits contributed by non-visual artists, like myself, are lost.

    Anyway, some of my favorites:

-The entire script of All Your Base is faithfully reproduced in various parts of the mural.
    -The Dragon is vomiting.
-The !=Hat is taking soil samples with an awkward-looking scoop.
-Those damn kids fell off the top of the building.
