Announcing Grupthink
Friday, March 3rd, 2006 by John M. -- Business DevelopmentWelcome to our Grupthink Development Blog.
We’ll use this forum to talk about upcoming releases, feedback we’re receiving, techniques we’re using, and whatever else comes up. For our debut blog post, we’ll answer three questions, what, who, and when?
To answer your first question, what’s this Grupthink thing all about?
Grupthink will be living source of collective wisdom and opinions; something we like to call the “social mindscape”. You could also call it an “knowledge aggregation systemâ€?, or a “social opinion gaugeâ€?, or a “red-crested ferretâ€? (just kidding).
Grupthink will allow you to ask interesting questions of your colleagues, or the world at large. Or, just browse or search for the topics that interest you, and contribute your opinion and expertise to the social mindscape. As we like to say around here, “What do u think?”
Second, who are we?
The Grupthink Team lives and works in Missoula, Montana. Nestled in the heart of the Northern Rockies between Glacier and Yellowstone National Park, Missoula is home to an eclectic mix of college students, cowboys (and girls), environmentalists, ranchers, snowboarders, writers, artists, and software engineers. Members of the Grupthink Team have been designing and building web applications for years, and we’re having a blast using the latest web technologies to build Grupthink.
And third, when will Grupthink launch?
We’re shooting for a late-March private beta (sign up at www.grupthink.com if you’d like an invite), and a late-April public launch.
